Yellow Swans - Going Places

The Yellow Swans were a prolific duo of Portland, now disbanded a few years ago but published only recently (in February) this latest album around which is a lot of chatter, some hype.
do not know anything for the back catalog of yellow swans, but that Going Places is a mixture of power electronics, drones and various glitches, partly reminiscent of the work of Tim Hecker or Alva Noto, Fennesz with comparisons already seem less justified - and that compared to their colleagues has a wall of sound much more dense and monolithic, less worried about the details of the power of impact.
The six pieces are in fact all very liquid and magma in the sense that their lives seem to have more than several attempts to rework the ideas sound our adding and mixing the layers of noise to achieve a catharsis that hearing, it is undeniable, at times has been reached. This happens especially in the two longer pieces, in which the rise of the climax makes more tangible the noisy jubilation when it reaches the zenith of his power, while the shorter tracks are aimed a bit 'lower with noticeable results, however, as to atmosphere and aftertaste. A beautiful disc
therefore, short enough to be easily digested, but still managed to stand up different satisfactions.
